I am Cate. I have had coeliac disease for 16 years, and I am the founder of Cate’s GF Tours, a gluten free walking tour company based in London, England (UK).
Cate’s GF Tours was created to help coeliacs and gluten free food lovers explore new places with confidence, safety, and joy. After years of living and eating my way across London, I’ve essentially perfected my own gluten free food route through the city.
Each tour is carefully built around fully gluten free venues, combining great food with sightseeing, community, and discovery. Every stop is personally tested, with zero stress and zero guessing.
Along the way, you’ll enjoy tastings in iconic locations, uncover hidden gems, and hear fun facts and stories that bring London to life. The small group format keeps everything relaxed, friendly, and social. Grab your trainers, bring your appetite, and let’s explore London the coeliac safe way.

The Origin’s of Cate’s GF Walking Tours in London
I’ve always wanted to start my own business, and I knew it had to be within the gluten free world, something I live with every day and feel deeply passionate about.
Last year, while walking through Notting Hill, I noticed just how many incredibly fully gluten free spots there were. That moment sparked the idea for a gluten free walking of London.
As someone with ADHD, when I have an idea, I tend to act on it quickly. I started designing the tour straight away, carefully curating each stop and working closely with vendors to create the best possible experience.

In March, I launched Cate’s GF Tours with a press event, inviting some of my favourite gluten free creators to experience it first. It was an incredibly special moment, made even more meaningful by the support of Coeliac UK - the UK’s only national charity supporting people with coeliac disease. Their Commercial Director, Christopher Kidd, joined the tour. The support from the charity has been incredible, and we’re already exploring ways to work together in the future.
Since launching, I’ve hosted 5 tours, all of which have received 5-star reviews. Guests consistently highlight the variety of food stops and the overall experience, but what stands out most is the sense of community. Many say it’s the first time they’ve felt truly relaxed eating out gluten free.
I also welcome a mix of guests. Some come with friends or family, while many join solo. It’s a great way to meet fellow coeliacs and gluten free food lovers who just want to enjoy amazing food in a safe, welcoming space. Guests often exchange numbers and stay in touch afterwards, which has been amazing to see.
My Coeliac Story
I was diagnosed with coeliac disease at 9 years old, just as I was about to start middle school in a new area, knowing only a few people. That summer, everything changed.
Before my diagnosis, I experienced severe symptoms including stomach pain, constant exhaustion, digestive issues, and extreme discomfort that often left me in tears. Doctors initially suspected dairy, but nothing improved.
I wasn’t initially considered for coeliac disease as I didn’t fit the typical diagnosis profile, as I was meeting expected growth and weight levels for my age.
Eventually, my GP trialled me on a gluten free diet, and the change was almost immediate. My symptoms improved, my energy returned, and I finally felt like myself again. After a blood test and endoscopy, I was formally diagnosed.
Growing up with coeliac disease was challenging, especially when gluten free options were limited. There were no “free from” aisles in the supermarkets, and eating out was near impossible. As a teenager, it became even harder to feel normal, always planning ahead and thinking about food differently to my peers for parties and events.
But these experiences shaped me. They pushed me to grow in confidence, advocate for myself, and speak openly about coeliac disease. At 15, I created my Instagram and YouTube accounts (@catethecoeliac) to connect with others going through the same thing.
Over the last decade, I’ve shared my experiences, leading to panels, talks and collaborations with restaurants and brands.
Since launching Cate’s GF Tours, the response has been incredible and confirmed a real need for safe, fun, community-driven gluten free experiences. My goal now is to continue growing and expanding across the UK, helping more people rediscover the joy of eating out without fear, stress, or compromise.
