The Best Gluten Free Spots at VIVID Sydney 2025

Best Gluten Free Spots VIVID Sydney 2025

We find the best gluten free locations at VIVID Sydney 2025

Hey Gluten Free Fam,

If you’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting the Harbour City during early winter, you’ll be treated to the sights, sounds and experiences of the VIVID festival. The annual event transforms Sydney’s nightlife into a hub of activity, packed with lights, art, music, and of course, food.

Let’s be honest - Sydney at night has not enjoyed the best of reputations over the years, especially in the wake of strict curfews and lockdowns which has dampened enthusiasm for being out and about after dark. However, VIVID has been a wonderful antidote, helping to reinvigorate the city’s nightlife in the process. It’s expanding every year with new features and dimensions being included - just what we like to see.

This is custom-made for families, couples and anyone who wants to enjoy something fun and exciting in the city. Yet as we know, finding quality gluten-free food amid the crowds is a challenge. Unless you’re a local and know the CBD well, there could be issues.

With the 2025 edition of VIVID running from May 23 to June 14, we thought this would be a great opportunity to showcase some of the best gluten free locations you can find if you make the journey. The best hot spots are around Darling Harbour, Circular Quay and The Rocks, but there will be other pockets you can source across the CBD.

Keep tabs on our socials for more insights and updates as we highlight recommendations from the gluten free community that might have flown under the radar.

Let’s check it out.

Brother Jackson & Co.

If there’s one place you know you’ll be safe and covered it’s Brother Jackson & Co. Complete with a 100% gluten free menu, the Sydney vendor won’t compromise on quality, taste or texture. With vegetarian and vegan options plus meals for the kids, the coeliac-safe food truck is famous for their burgers and chips, specialising in classic fast food favourites.

You can find them underneath the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay. With accreditation from Coeliac Australia, you can have confidence that everything on the menu is coeliac-safe.

Bar Totti’s

Our first Italian restaurant recommendation this VIVID season is Bar Totti’s. Although the establishment is not 100% dedicated gluten free, the staff will point you towards a number of yummy starters and main course options that can be made gluten free. From burrata and prosciutto to a variety of breads, pasta selections, lamb ragu and desserts, this is an Italian gem positioned in Sydney’s CBD.

If you’re heading to the lights later in the evening or leaving the attractions for the main road, you’ll locate Bar Totti’s at 330A/330B George St, Sydney.

Betty’s Burgers

With a healthy rating on Find Me Gluten Free, Betty’s Burgers is another excellent selection for a classic burger shack for VIVID 2025. While they are coeliac aware, they are not 100% gluten free. But you will find burgers, buns, fries and potato chips that are gluten free. Their helpful staff will cater towards patrons with coeliac disease, so make sure you let them know when making your order.

You’ll find Betty’s Burgers just up the road from Town Hall station at Shop 4/44 Market St, Sydney.

Ragazzi

We took a trip to Ragazzi Wine and Pasta earlier in December 2024 and it’s well worth your time if you’re around Sydney’s CBD for VIVID 2025. If you’re keen for Italian fine dining with delicious hand-made gluten free pasta, this is for you. Please note, they are not a 100% dedicated gluten free establishment, but they are very knowledgable and will make their best efforts to cater to customers with coeliac disease.

Find Ragazzi Wine and Pasta just across the road from Martin Place at Shop 3/2-12 Angel Pl, Sydney.

Esteban

A gluten free Mexican restaurant many of you have been raving about is Esteban. With a staff who are well-versed in all things cross-contamination, Esteban has a dedicated gluten free fryer and a menu well worth exploring. From tacos and tortillas to calamari, ceviche, taquitos, seafood and a range of desserts and ice creams, the gluten free community agrees this is stop is a must when you’re in the city. It is not dedicated gluten free, but the necessary precautions are taken when speaking with staff.

Find Esteban across from the SEA Life Sydney Aquarium at 1 Temperance Ln, Sydney.

Zushi Barangaroo

Japanese cuisine lovers will be in good company with a trip to Zushi Barangaroo. The waterfront restaurant matches the stunning views with a separate gluten free menu. Complete with oysters, sushi, sashimi and wagyu steak, there are a number of menu items that are marked gluten free. Once more, they are not 100% gluten free, so let the staff know of your dietary requirements. We have not yet eaten at Zushi Barangaroo but hear good things.

Book a table at Zushi at 10/33 Barangaroo Ave, Barangaroo.
